Yara Castro RobertsYara Castro Roberts is a native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She began her culinary education as a young girl with her mother, Belita de Castro, a well-known chef who owned an important catering business and cooking school in Brazil for over thirty years. 

Yara is a graduate of the Boston University of Culinary Arts and attended classes at Cambridge Culinary School of Arts and Radcliff College. She graduated with a degree in Art History from the Ecole du Louvre and holds a bachelor's degree in Education from the Sorbonne in Paris. Yara is quadrilingual in Portuguese, French, Spanish and English and knows some Italian and Russian. At her school, the Brazilian Academy of Cooking, the classes are filled with savory recipes and enriched with information on History, Art, Music, Literature and social aspects relevant to the culture. 

Yara is featured in the video "Brazilian Cuisine with Yara Roberts" and she was the host for a PBS series that focused on important cuisines and their cultural tradition.  The series was twice honored by the broadcasting industry with nominations for their "Emmy" award. The New York Times said in an article, "she is a vivacious and seemingly inexhaustible ambassador for food and other things Brazilian. And she is an accomplished cook."
