Got questions?  We're here to help.

Question: Answer:
  • How do I make a reservation for a cooking class or vacation?
  • The first thing you should do is give us a call or send us an email so we can check availability for the school and dates you are interested in.  If it is available, you can send in the reservation form along with your deposit to hold the reservation.
  • Where can I find out the current dates and prices for the schools?
  • Each school has the dates and prices listed on its own page.  When you go to the Schools section and pick a country and then a school, click on the Dates & Prices button at the top left of the page to see the current information for that school.
  • I'm having trouble printing out anything from your website?
  • If you want to print out information from our site, you will need to temporarily disable JavaScript on your browser. For instructions on how to do this, click here.  Make sure and re-enable JavaScript when you are done printing.
  • Are the classes taught in English?
  • Yes. All of our classes are taught in English.  Even if the chef does not speak English, a translator is provided.  However, if you wish to attend a class in the native language of the area, there are a couple that may accommodate that request.  Please contact us.
  • What is the weather going to be like on my trip?
  • To check out the current weather in the area of the school you will be attending, go to that school's page and click on the Weather button at the top.  You can also see weather forecasts and histories for the area.
  • What should I wear while I'm on my trip?
  • That will depend on the activity:
    • For cooking classes it is definitely casual dress (jeans, pants, comfortable shirts, etc...)
    • For excursions, dress comfortably, but a little less casual in case you end up in a nice restaurant (slacks, pant suits, skirts)
    • For last night dinners, dress is not formal, but a little more dressy than the excursions.  (sport coats, dresses, ties are optional)
    • Comfortable shoes are a must.  Most lessons and excursions will require some time on your feet and you will be thankful if your shoes don't hurt.
    • Also, check with the weather forecasts before you pack.  You may want bring a light jacket for the excursions and always pack an umbrella.
  • Where are your schools located?
  • We currently have schools in five countries (Italy, France, Portugal, England and Brazil) and are adding ones in other countries soon.  If you want to find the location of the specific school you are interested in, go to the school's page and click on the Map button at the top.
  • Where do I find out the current exchange rate for the country I'm traveling in?
  • Check out our online Currency Converter in our Travel section for the current exchange rates of 164 different world currencies.
  • Will I be a certified chef after taking these classes?
  • No.  Not that you won't learn a lot while you're there, but these are vacations and not Chef Schools.  Most of the classes include some hands-on participation, if you choose, so you can really learn the techniques.   If, however, you are interested in becoming a certified chef, check out the Shaw Guide to Cooking Schools for Chef Schools all over the world.
  • I just want a one day class, do you offer any?
  • Yes!  A few of our schools do offer one day classes or as many days as you want.  Please contact us for more information.
  • How far in advance can I make a reservation?
  • The answer to this question depends on the school.   Basically, if the school has submitted class dates to us, then you can reserve them.  Most schools book by season a year in advance.
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
  • As of now, we will accept payment by check, money order, or wire transfer.  All bank charges must be included in your payment if you use wire transfer.  Credit card payment is currently being set up and will be available in the near future.
