The Holidays in Tuscany   
December 27 - January 2 or 
December 30 - January 6 

Il Falconiere is featuring two special culinary weeks over the Christmas/New Years  Holidays for your enjoyment. Below you will find the itineraries for them. Be sure to sign up early as this is a school that fills quickly. 


PACKAGE ONE: 

Day One (December 27, 2000) Arrival at the Relais & Chateaux Il Falconiere, check-in, welcome cocktail with Silvia & Riccardo Baracchi, your hosts for the week. You will meet our Chef Michele Brogioni. An aperitif will be followed by a delicious Tuscan meal.

Day Two (December 28, 2000) In the morning sightseeing tour of Cortona visiting the Etruscan Academy Museum, the Etruscan graves and discover the mystical atmosphere of the monastery “Le Celle of St. Francis." Lunch in a typical tavern. Back to the Relais in time for a cooking session: “Along Etruscan Traces." Dinner, tasting prepared dishes and drinking a selection of “Super Tuscan Wines." 

Day Three (December 29, 2000) Breakfast and morning at leisure. In the afternoon drive to a typical Tuscan restaurant formerly an old mill for: “The Joys of Home Life” cooking class, which will show you how to make home-made pasta and olive oil dishes, following old Tuscan traditions.

Day Four (December 30, 2000) Breakfast and morning at leisure. Drive in the afternoon to Gubbio. Beautiful city in Umbria which has kept its medieval character intact and its picturesque streets that take us back into the past. There, you will be able to see the world largest Christmas tree. Back to the hotel in time to spend a wonderful evening dining together with a typical family of Cortona. 

Day Five (December 31, 2000) Breakfast. Day at one’s complete disposal. New Year’s Eve Candle light Dinner with music entertainment, toasting together the arrival of Year 2001. 

Day Six (January 1, 2001) Breakfast and morning at leisure. In the afternoon possibility to visit some of the most important and impressive “Living Nativity Scenes” of the area. Farewell candlelight dinner at Il Falconiere. Issue of the cooking-course certificate. 

Day Seven (January 2, 2001) Breakfast and departure. 


PACKAGE TWO: 

Day One (December 30, 2000) Arrival at the Relais & Chateaux Il Falconiere, check-in, welcome cocktail with Silvia & Riccardo Baracchi, your hosts for the week. You will meet our Chef Michele Brogioni and the entire Staff of the Relais Il Falconiere. The aperitif will be followed by a delicious Tuscan meal. 

Day Two (December 31, 2000) Breakfast. Day at one’s complete disposal. New Year’s Eve Candle light Dinner with music entertainment, toasting together the arrival of Year 2001.

Day Three (January 1, 2001) Breakfast and morning at leisure. In the afternoon possibility to visit some of the most important and impressive “Living Nativity Scenes” of the area. Evening at leisure.

Part of the Il Falconiere Dining Room Day Four (January 2, 2001) After breakfast possibility (on request) to hear the celebration of a mass in the St. Francis’s monastery in Cortona. Drive in the afternoon to a typical Tuscan restaurant formerly an old mill for: “The Joys of Home Life” cooking class, which will show you how to make home-made pasta and olive oil dishes, following old Tuscan traditions. 

Day Five (January 3, 2001) Breakfast and morning at leisure. Drive in the afternoon to Gubbio. Day Seven (January 5, 2001) After breakfast excursion to Montepulciano, in southern Tuscany’s fine wine country. Lunch and tasting in a Montepulciano wine cellar. Return to the Hotel in time for your last cooking session:  “Amusing cooking with a bit of fantasy”. Farewell candlelight dinner at Il Falconiere. Issue of the cooking-course certificate. 

Day Eight (January 6, 2001) Breakfast and departure. 


These programs are subject to modifications in accordance to personal requests. Member of the Relais & Chateaux Family Classes are limited to 14 people and are hands-on, with lessons concentrating on the successive stages of a meal. The cooking courses will be conducted by Michele Brogioni, chef of the Relais Il Falconiere and by Silvia Regi, owner and professional sommelier. Together they will share the history and traditional Tuscan techniques of cooking. The owner, Mr Riccardo Baracchi, will personally take care of the program in order to guarantee a pleasant stay.  

Both packages include: 

  • Six or seven nights accommodations

  • Two or three cooking lessons, with high qualified staff

  • All mentioned meals including wine tastings

FIRST PACKAGE RATE: 
6 nights per person, based on double occupancy: $2270

SECOND PACKAGE RATE:
7 nights per person, based on double occupancy: $2400 

Superior supplement: $200 per person
Junior Suite supplement: $375 per person
