Itinerary:
- Wednesday April, 10
Arrive in Bologna airport. Private transfer to a beautifully renovated country farmhouse at a small family winery in the country near Imola, within minutes of the races. Excursion to Casola Valsenio to "Giardino delle Erbe", the most complete botanical garden specializing in "piante officinali" (plants benefitting the body) in Italy.Over 400 herbs for cooking, medicine, cosmetics. Guided visit of the gardens & exhibits. Aperitif in a local winery. Welcome dinner in a traditional country restaurant over the hills, with the most typical menu of the area and a beautiful view.
- Thursday April, 11
Morning departure to visit Parmigiano Reggiano cheese makers to see all the steps the men go through to make and age the cheese, king of cheeses. Drive to Maranello to visit the Ferrari museum. Proceed to Modena to the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena producer to see how they make this treasure and to taste 12 and 25 year old vinegar. Lunch featuring a special menu based on balsamic vinegar in a restaurant in the area. On the way home from Modena, stop at Dozza for a stroll in this picturesque hilltown famous for murals along its narrow streets. Return to the farmhouse. In the afternoon, cooking lesson in Nicola's restaurant, famous for its dishes using herbs. Dinner of your creations.
- Friday April, 12
Half day Spa treatment, in the local Spa with a wonderfully relaxing body massage and a refreshing facial mud. Light lunch. Leave for Ravenna, famous for its mosaics and architecture. Walk with a guide to see marvellous Byzantine mosaics. Free time for shopping. Ravenna has fabulous art and other stores. Tasting wine and dinner in a typical and traditional Osteria, one of the most beautiful Osteria of Emilia Romagna region, in Ravenna heart.
- Saturday April, 13
Leave for Faenza, famous for its wonderful ceramics. Faenza is synonym of ceramic all around the world. Visit an artisan ceramic shop where you will see some moments of the decoration of ceramic pottery. Proceed to Brisighella where you will taste Brisighello Olive Oil, one of the first in Italy awarded the designation, "Denominazione di Origine Protetta" from the EEC. You'll enjoy a private tasting of fine olive oils, including a "cru" one. You'll taste some of Italy’s best! (If there is not time, this olive oil visit will be done after the trials). Light Lunch. Drive to the car race track in Imola to see the trial runs. (If the trials are in the morning, the day’s itinerary will be reversed). Dinner at a very good fresh fish restaurant. (This fish menu is really plenty of different dishes and the fish and seafood are very very fresh!)
- Sunday April, 14
Whole day at the Formula Uno car races. 8:00 p.m. Gala dinner at San Domenico Restaurant in Imola, cited in many Italian restaurant guides as one of the best in Italy. In this restaurant there is one of the most beautiful and well-stocked restaurant wine cellars in Italy.
- Monday April, 15
After breakfast. Private transfer to Bologna airport or railway station.
